  HISTORY IN BRIEF:

Prior to the formation of the Wanneroo Districts Cricket Club, the area north of Beach Road was unallocated WACA territory. Warwick and Greenwood were two major suburban turf clubs in the northern suburbs who formed the foundations for the Wanneroo WACA club.

On April 12, 1976 the committees of the Warwick District and Greenwood Cricket Clubs met to formalise almagamation. The decision to merge was carried. Wanneroo Districts Cricket Club was officially formed. Red and green were adopted as club colours. On June 28, 1976 the merger was put to the members of both Warwick District and Greenwood Cricket Clubs, who voted unanimously to accept the proposal. On August 20, 1976 a letter from the newly formed Wanneroo Districts Cricket Club to the W.A.C.A requested information regarding requirements of facilities and standards for submission to the W.A.C.A. This first season saw 6 teams represented in the Suburban Turf Cricket Association, 2 teams in the Perth Mercantile Competition, 12 teams in the North West Suburban Junior Cricket Association and 1 team in the W.A. Womens Cricket Association.

Wanneroo submitted teams into the W.A.C.A for the first time in 1978/79 in the following competitions: U/16s (Saturdays and Brayshaw Shield), U/14s (McKenzie Shield) and U/12s (Inverarity Shield).

In 1979/80 Wanneroo entered the senior competition of the W.A.C.A with two 2nd Grade sides and two 4th Grade Sides. The U/14s started a Saturday morning competition.

In 1980/81 teams were also entered in the Toyota Cup (Sunday League) and Colts (Under 21) competitions. An U/16 side was entered into the zone competition.

In 1981/82 Wanneroo had one less 4th Grade Side, but now also had a team in thirds. A veterans team was entered for the first time.

In December 1982 Wanneroo won the right to A Grade status in 1983/84. This website takes up all accurate records for senior teams from this season, 1983/84, onwards.
