WANNEROO DO WELL IN WET WEATHER DRAW

There was no winner in Wanneroo’s district cricket fixture last weekend against Bayswater Morley at Hillcrest reserve but the drawn game saw a gusty team improvement in all aspects of the game.

Captain Joel Charles struck a confident century in difficult conditions and shared a 130 run opening partnership with Dan Richards the team then went on to score a total of 6/331 on day 2.

Wanneroo’s two under nineteen state representatives scored heavily, Jake Fawcett scored an undefeated 80 and Anthony Del Borello made 48 which put the team in a positive frame of mind when Bayswater Morley came into bat.

State captain Marcus North came to play and he piled on 107 for Bayswater Morley in a batting exhibition but with Chris Quelch taking two wickets and the two under 19 representatives a wicket each Bayswater could not approach the Wanneroo score and were 5/206 when time ran out.

Second grade went down to Bayswater Morley at Kingsway.

Bayswater Morley scored 9/195 but Dylan Minear led the attack well taking 4/28 with Kyle Miller taking 3/25.

Wanneroo had Justin Power score 44 and Paul Dilena 24 in a total of 162

Third grade ruled supreme with Jarred Schofield back to his very best when he scored 95 of a Wanneroo total of 7/270. Bayswater Morley in reply was all out for 225.

Wanneroo’s fourth grade total of 128 was never going to be enough but Braydon Power, 3/49 and Zaymn Chapman 2/24 bent their backs in a valiant effort to stave off defeat.

Bayswater Morley however was all out for 188.

The under 17’s were far too good for Bayswater Morley when they lost 6 wickets in scoring 259.

Luke Symonds was again to the fore with bat and ball and top scored with 67 and then took 2/6.

Aiden Fawcett looked the part with a half century but Bayswater were well beaten when they could only achieve a total of 178.

The under 15’s are increasing in confidence with another notable victory.

They posted 9/201 with Smith making 44 and Morton 34 and then restricted Bayswater Morley to 156.

MacDonald was best with the ball taking 3/33.
