Weekend Wrap: Female Youth League

In the first game of the season, our Female Youth League cricketers took on Subiaco Floreat at Floreat Park.

Our Roos bowled first and did well to keep Subiaco Floreat to 1/139, having collectively bowled and fielded well.

WDCC lost a few early wickets but batted our full allocation of overs with positive batting from Shayna Jesani, Ella Stewart and Danni Eckley (the latter 2 both not out with 14 and 13). Whilst our Roos fell short finishing at 3/41, there was a lot of promise and fight shown.

2018/19 WA Under 19s Team

Congratulations to Deon Billington on his selection in the 2018/19 WA Under 19.

The team will compete in the National Championships in Adelaide from December 3 to 13.

Well done Deon!

Weekend Wrap vs. Fremantle

For the 2nd game in a row, 3rd Grade saved the Club from the dreaded “Brown Roo”, salvaging the only win vs. Freo.

Player of the Round was undoubtedly the Comeback King Andrew “John Farnham” Slattery whose fighting 81 rescued his team. Honorable mentions to Gagandeep “G Train” Singh (4/4 in 3s), Riley “Holly Riley” Holly (59 in 2s) and Sharad “Sharon” Jessani (5/55 in 4s).

Our Juniors shared the spoils with both Fremantle and Bayswater-Morley, with wins to our 17s and 13s sandwiching losses in the 15s & 14s.

Connor “S-Berg” Spangenberg was outstanding in the 15s, scoring 33 with the bat before taking 5/3 with the ball! Sensational stuff.  Honorable mentions to Cody “Brother of Lando” Billington (52 in the 14s) and a cheeky 69* to Tyler “Why do we have so many Connors and Tylers?” Brown in the 13s.

Fantasy Wrap Round 3

There concludes our first double week round. In round three club legend and all around great moustache haver Cameron ‘The Weapons’ MacDonald has taken his first win, thanks to his Fantasy Captain Jack Cattrall providing a cheeky 165 (330) points. I only hope he pays his entry fee before something happens to the bar card with his name on it.

Other news, Lachlan ‘Punjab Frogs XI’ has taken the early lead on the overall tally, with the Brendo ‘Beard with human attached’ close behind. And look at that, Rob Fairchild is in the running again this year, closing out the top 3.

1st Grade Debutant: Stuart Thompson

190. Stuart Thompson

Stuart Thompson has joined the mighty Roos for the 1st half of the 2018-19 season, and made his 1st Grade debut for the Roos on Sat 13th October vs. Claremont-Nedlands.  Stuart made 54 off 56 balls.

A man who needs no introduction, Stuart comes to the Roos having represented Ireland in all formats of the game.  His salad is ordinary but his beard is ferocious.

Welcome Stuart!
