Weekend wrap for our round 3 clash against Joondalup
1st Grade
Wanneroo 8/199 (50) Def by Joondalup 5/202 (35.4)
1s won the toss and chose to have a bat first.
The Roos didn’t start so well losing a couple early wickets and an injury to Aryan whilst batting forced him to leave the field, finishing the power play at 3/40. Mitch and Mayo held some resistance putting on a 62 run partnership before Nick was caught on the ring for 37 (4/102 at this stage). Regular wickets fell after that (Mitch 60, Deon 9, Tristan 18) before some lower order hitting from Caiden (17), Maffa (22*) and Jordan (10*) saw the Roos post a total of 200.
Needing to bowl well Poults got the opener in the first over. After that Joondalup opener Garrick Morgan came out hard and got them off to a flyer. We struggled to keep him off strike for most of his innings which kept there moment. Deon bowled a tidy spell which bought our second wicket. Deon bowled his 10 overs 1/34, well bowled Deon. Morgan bought up his 100 off 80 balls in a very well played knock. The damage was already done by the Joondalup batters. Jordan (2fa) and Tristan getting a few wickets between them towards the end to get them 5 down. Well done Tristan on his maiden 1st grade wicket. Joondalup were too good and won by 5 wickets.
Some positives to take from the game as we look to bounce back this week.
2nd Grade
Wanneroo 10/163 (34.1) def by Joondalup 7/167 (43.5)
Rnd 3 vs Joondalup
With a bit of rain around the covers were on over night leaving a bit of life in the pitch for the first couple overs. Great toss to win and bowl, which Brad didn’t do. Have no fear Greg Maher walking to the crease. Nek minit hes off with a second golden duck in a row #royalty. Blake Holly came and went fairly quickly. Enter Kane Pearce and the one the only Pesh. The boys fought back control and put together a great partnership. Pesh hauling out to deep square for 33. Kane continued on to a wonderful 50 and getting to 66 before one of the worst displays of umpiring square leg giving Kane out caught behind somehow. No one really went on after that other than Liam Hunter fighting his way to 13 trying his best to get us to a defendable score. Ending on 163 we knew we had it all to do.
The opening bowlers Liam Hunter and Tom walker did all they could to get us the break through, Unfortunately both going wicketless. A few drop chances didn’t help our cause. Darsh came into the game early producing ball of the day clean ripping their opener through the gate. Nathan De Villiers then came with a fiery spell of short pitch bowling ending the day with 4 wickets. We managed to get them 7 down and it took 43 overs to chase the total. Just shows a few more runs on the board and we would of got the choccies.
3rd Grade
Wanneroo 10/198 (44.4) def Joondalup 10/130 (37)
Round 3 saw the wanneroo third grade shlongys (and brendo junior) up against the barely centurions (because they only made 120 ). Captain booger lost the only thing this side will lose all year the toss, making us have a bat. GINORMOUS W.
The shlongys started poorly being being 5 down at the 16 over mark. The boys were struggling to say the least. The top orders run sheet was almost as empty as richos big mac (it was just bread). NOT happy. Special shoutout to richo tho, seeing them like watermelons, hitting a picture perfect 27. Just a shame no one wanted to give him help. Out comes our second grade saviour putting the innings on his back. In form with bat, ball and in the field darcsh patel forssman, hitting a naughty little 48 off 75. mr tfc himself @brock and ball torture had a nice little cameo with 24. Cody hit a nice 6 and everyone else did nothing ending the innings on 198. IS this enough? Not with half track shlongy forssman bowling, and unc and the boogerman in the field
Unc shlong and shlongy bill started exceptionally with the ball. Billy took the first and must’ve still been nonverbal from the night before letting iluka know he meant business, being too nonchalant and giving a mute celly. AURA. Wickets fell quickly for not many runs. Shock. Then darcy “i want 3 votes” forssman got on his knees and begged to bowl, searching for junk time wickets and the three crucial votes for the all might paul mcdonald lucas medal. His greed clearly got the better of him. Bowling dirty half trackers giving joondi a big ole gone but never forgotten sam williams sniff (he gave up the pipe allegedly). Zaneo took his first for the club against the old mob(we now know why he left) ice man marinovich took 2 before frotham bao bun brekky rotham cleaned up the tail taking 4 cheeky little wickets. All out for 120. 80 run win. Third grade gets it done again. As per. Book your tickets for the final weekend in september.
“there is no way we lose” – Cody every week this year probably
4th Grade
Joondalup 9/131 (45) def by Wanneroo 5/135 (37.4)
Joondalup won the toss and decided to have a bat first. Mr Carroll and Cam ‘cheesy’ Houghton opened the bowling, with cheesy striking first in the 4th over. Fitta took the second wicket and then the collapse started. Joondalup losing the next 7 wickets for only 45 runs with Tom ‘silver’ Blythman leading the way with almost getting a hat-trick. Silver ended up with 3 wickets, Redman chipped in with 2 and Riley ‘fish’ Gillespie stuck in for 1. Joondalup boringly batted the overs out and ended up on 9/131.
Xander ‘santa mentosina’ Glamuzina and Fish opened the batting with Fish falling quickly for 3. Santa didn’t hang around for much longer scoring a quick 14. Silver decided it was a good idea to hit one on to his stumps for 3. Struggling at 3/31 Oscar ‘gigachad’ and Yusuf ‘subway’ Zain came to the crease putting on a much needed 59 run partnership leaving Wanneroo with 42 runs to win. Kaleb ‘Whitey’ White checked in for a solid 15 and Jenjamin Bones came in for a quick 13 off 8 scoring the winning runs to secure 2 out of 2 wins for the bad boys of 4th grade.
