Chairman Candidate: Russell McPhee

To the WDCC Players, Members and Supporters,

I am very pleased to announce that I have been nominated for the position of WDCC President (Chairman) for Season 2018/19.

I first became involved as a proud parent of Trent and Mitchell way back in 2005 when Mitch joined several of his mates in the U/13 side for Season 2005/2006.  At the time Darryl Power was the coach and I was fortunate enough to start my journey in supporting the club from this point, being involved in many positions along the way.

Since I first started my involvement with WDCC, I have seen the club come a long way, with so many stalwarts of the club still actively involved. I’m very proud to say I’m a true Wanneroo person through and through. If elected President (Chairman) it’s really important that we strive to continue the hard work of so many past President’s and committee’s over time. That said it’s also extremely important that we look to the future as well. For me, the future involves many things, including but not limited to some of the following areas:

  • Ensure completion of both center/training wickets as planned.
  • Develop a Senior player leadership program.
  • Develop mentoring opportunities for all senior coaches.
  • Improved facilities for all players and members.
  • Re development of the indoor shed with exclusive access to WDCC personal.
  • Shaded area for the 3rd / 4th Grade games with power for electronic scoring.
  • Continued building of our relationship with the WACA.
  • Ongoing development of Women’s Cricket across all areas.
  • Continue building our relationship with the City of Wanneroo.
  • Further discussion with the shire around a 3rd wicket at Kingsway.
  • Identify any State or Federal grants that are available to us to support all initiatives.

It goes without saying that I’m still as passionate about the club as I was when I first became involved. A lot of people have said to me on a number of occasions “why are you still here when both your boys are no longer playing?” For me it’s a simple reply, I get so much enjoyment and pleasure from being around the club. Watching so many boys grow into fine young men, who continue to work hard to improve themselves as people and cricketers, is fantastic to watch, and it’s this attitude that will drive our club to the success we so richly deserve.

Being able to support the players and club is my absolute pleasure and I look forward to the years ahead. I strongly believe that I’m the right person to be elected as President (Chairman) at this time, and I would appreciate your support next week.

I look forward to seeing you all on the 6th June.

Kind regards,

Russell McPhee
