It’s time!
The worst part of any season is the pre-season, an unfortunate but necessary evil, if we are fair dinkum about our preparation for the coming season. To quote Muhammad Ali: “The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses – behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights“.
We will start on Sunday 7th August at 10am at the Clubrooms at Kingsway. From there we will train every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30pm, as well as every 2nd Sunday leading up to the season proper.
The fitness program will go for four weeks and then we will start our cricket program in the shed which will include batting, bowling, fielding and fitness.
The program will incorporate a combination of aerobic fitness and core strength exercises which is not dissimilar to previous pre-season programs we have done.
While many players are involved in winter sports I am really keen to see everyone at training at some stage. Sundays would probably be the best day for our footballers & hockey players and I would like to see you down there engaging with the rest of the group. We don’t expect people to train if they are sore or have games to play but we want to see your faces at training.
While pre-season is hard, it is also a chance to get yourself in a condition that allows you to be “the best player you can be” and we need everyone to engage and embrace what we are doing. Train hard with intent, get yourself in shape and who knows where it will take you!
Remember that both myself and Peter Clough are here to help. We want to make you blokes better and successful in everything you do, so please if you need anything just ask.
Results are driven by effort and intent! If we can bring both to all our training sessions then you will get the results you deserve! Effort and intent is all we want!
Finally, remember our Club Culture: Respect. Leadership. Discipline. Passion. Bring these to every session!
We look forward to seeing you there on the 7th August for our 1st session of a successful cricket season.
Cheers,
Sean King.
