Wanneroo Districts Cricket Club is very pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Pearson as Director of Coaching.
Wayne takes over from Travis Birt who has been offered the opportunity to take on a full-time coaching role with the WACA. Travis has served the club magnificently on-field and as a mentor to our playing group in his time at the Roos and whilst disappointing to lose his services so soon into his coaching tenure we wish Travis all the best and tonnes of success in his exciting new role.
Wayne is no stranger to the Roos, as past a Premiership Coach, and has committed to the Club for the next two seasons. Wayne was originally appointed by past President Mike Minear in 2013, he then went on to win an A Grade Premiership (The club’s 2nd) in his first Coaching Season in 2013-14. Wayne is a Level 3 Coach and during 2014-15 was coaching as a temporary assistant at the WACA under the watchful eye of now Australian coach Justin Langer.
Since leaving the club at the end of the 2015-16 season to explore other opportunities, Wayne had some very successful seasons at the University CC, with the help of new Roo Boys Chris Sabburg & Bailey Richards, to make the final of the two-day competition, which the club narrowly lost. Wayne also helped out two seasons ago at WDCC with our Under 15’s, with his son Scotty the head coach of the 15’s, also a past player.
We would like everyone to welcome our new Director of Coaching Wayne Pearson back to his Club for hopefully many years to come!
Thank you Wayne! and we all thoroughly look forward to supporting you and the boys in what we believe will be another very successful season in 2021-22!
Go the Roos! Get on the Rootrain!
Yours in cricket,
David Minear President/Chairman
