False Claim by Individual

Please be aware of the following correspondence from the WACA regarding an false claim by an individual:

SUBJECT: False Claim by individual

You will have received an email from Alan Singer today advising of a false claim by a man identifying himself as a “Rob Dawson”.

Yesterday he phoned an existing South Perth Community Club junior player on his mobile phone and invited him to what he described as a WACA Under-15 Talent Carnival today starting at 10am.

There is no one of that name associated with WACA Programs.

Fortunately the boy’s Mother intervened and the man ended the call.

She is now reporting the matter to the WA Police so that it can be followed up.

I have since received a call from a Whitfords JCC official advising that he and another coach were approached by a man identifying himself as Rob Dawson in December at Belrose Oval in Kallaroo and claimed to live near Bridgewater Reserve in Kallaroo. .

The man expressed interested in doing some coaching.

I have reported the information to the WA Sports Federation Child Safety representative who is in touch regularly with the Child Abuse Unit of the WA Police.

If you do hear of any other activity involving this case, please contact me on 0411 056 596 or 9265 7207 or at david.clear@waca.com.au.

If you have not done so already, can you please distribute this information to community clubs in your associations asking them to send to their Coaches and Managers.

Thank you for your support with this matter.
