Premier T20 Premiers

A huge congratulations to our Premier T20 team for winning the Premiership yesterday vs. Claremont-Nedlands at Fletcher Park.

Winning the toss and batting first, the Roos lost English import Max “Kelso’s Favourite Son” Holden early before Rob “Richo Man” Richards and Christian “Steve” Smith put on 62 for the next wicket. Richards was dismissed for 20, before Matthew “Anthrax” Spoors blasted an undefeated 39 from 29 balls. Smith departed for 43 off just 31, and Mitch “Bobby” McGee made a cameo 23 from 13 to see the Roos finish with 6/164 off their 20 overs.

Claremont-Nedlands began their chase well, before Michael “Arder and Arder” Ardagh (1/32) made the crucial breakthrough of James Allenby. Matt “Minister for Vino” Dzodzos then took care of Nick Hobson and Cam “Blue” Steel to finish with 2/17 off four overs.

Matt Spoors added to his batting performance by taking 1/25, dismissing Chris Brabazon, before Kyle Millar dismissed Tim David to take 1/14.

5 wickets down, the Tigers saw a glimmer of Brad Hope who took the score to 101 with Hayden Morton, but Rob Richards closed the deal taking 4/19 off two overs. Claremont-Nedlands lost their final wicket to a run-out, and the Mighty Roos were victorious by 28 runs.
