U17F T20 – Wrap v Melville

Melville  5- 176 (Stewart 2-24, Jesani 2-28) def. Wanneroo 5-94 (Jesani 31)

Melville won the toss and chose to bat first on what appeared to be a good track in light of all the rain. From the outset our Female Roo’s didn’t do what we normally do so well, we contributed to our own downfall with uncharacteristic wide and short bowling which also on occasions left us lacking focus in the field . This allowed Melville to start well and they never really looked back. Only Kristin Jones providing good resistance with her usual good length and flight, coupled with her spin partner Ella Stewart who was able to also stem the tide of runs and snag 2 wickets finishing with 2 -24 and Kristin 0-34 both from 4 overs apiece. Shayna Jesani was also in the wickets finishing with good figures 2-28; our extras waded in again with a cumbersome 20! We dusted ourselves down and set about chasing down 176 having taken 5 of Melville’s wickets.

Tene and Talia fell early before Shayna steadied the ship with additional contributions from Eva, Alex and Emilie but our Roo’s fell short and were left on 94 for the loss of 5 wickets. A tough morning but plenty to take away and improve for next week when we play South Perth at the WACA.
