Commiserations to Wanneroo DCC 3rd Grade who went down to Perth CC in the Preliminary Final over the weekend.
After losing the toss, the Roos were banished to the field but tasted early success to have Perth 2/38. Despite limited support, Perth captain Michael Neves posted a stoic century to drag his team to 221 after 97 overs. Donnie “The Janitor” Fryer took 4/25, Josh “POTUS” Quelch 3/60, and Tim “George Lazenby” Bond took a cheeky 2/48.
In reply, Wanneroo lost two early wickets before some reasonable partnerships took them to 3/80 at lunch. Fryer (42) and Bond (33) threatened to take the game away, but after their departure the Roos found themselves 8 wickets down at tea. Despite some tough resistance from the tail, Wanneroo was bowled out for 148 in the 76th over to concede defeat.
