The Mighty Roos had a strong start to their 2017-18 campaign, winning three out of four Senior fixtures. The Juniors mirrored these results, with only the 17s missing out.
In 1st Grade, Fremantle were restricted to 7/104 in a rain-effected match. Returning star Jack Cattrall (3/26) and youthful veteran Matt Dzodzos (2/13) bowled superbly. In reply, the Roos chased down the runs with six wickets in hand on the back of a classy 47* from Matt “Anthrax” Spoors.
2nd Grade chased down Fremantle’s 189 with six wickets in hand, with Jordan King (77*) and evergreen Rob Fairchild (50*) combining for a match-winning partnership.
3rd Grade posted 183 on the back of useful starts from Connor Smith (39) and Andrew Slattery (34), before Mike Ardagh spun through Fremantle with figures of 5/28.
4th Grade fought valiantly but fell short of Fremantle’s total. Tim Adrichem made 45.
Despite a quick-fire start, the 17s struggled to post a competitive total and Fremantle easily made the runs before batting on.
The 15s bowled out Freo for 157 (Jessani 4/17, Elliot 3/34) before Aryan Varsani scored a sensational 101 not out. Well done Aryan!
The 14s & 13s accounted for the Centurions yesterday, led by Cody Billington (55) and KT Pearce (41 & 2/9).
