Saturday saw shared spoils between Wanneroo & Joondalup, with 1st & 4s being a stale sandwich of loss surrounding a filling of juicy 2s & 3s victory.
1st Grade restricted Joondalup to 202, with Matt “Pete” Dzodzos taking 3/40. In reply, our Roos could only manage 146, despite 49 from Haydn “Frugal” Slodecki.
2nd Grade chased down Joondalup’s 188 in the last over with two wickets in hand. Mike “King of Fantasy” Ardagh took 3/37 whilst Cam “Sean Connery” MacDonald starred with the bat with 51.
3rd Grade posted 7/222 thanks to a class 65 from Tim “Boonda” Bond, before rolling Joondalup for just 105. Adam “Bradley Cooper Shakira” Smith was unplayable in his spell of 2/10, before Elijah “Lollybags” Gravestock had everyone guessing and batsmen visibly in fear as he took 6/41.
The Al Gores dismissed Joondalup for 205 with Matt “Purce” Purcell (4/48) and Saleem “Zoolander” Ahmed (3/34) shining. In reply, the Roos couldn’t build any partnerships and were dismissed for 169.
The 17s & 15s finished their two day matches vs. Willeton is style, with both teams tasting sweet victory. A special mention to Aryan Varsani who scored 91 for the 15s.
Sunday was a day of angst for 1s & 2s, both going down to Perth.
In 1st Grade, Perth posted a healthy 7/273 (John “Ellen” Walter 3/53) before dismissing the Roos for 180. Kyle “Funky” Millar was best with the bat with 52.
2nd Grade lost in a thriller, after posting 7/232. Jordan “The Prince” King made 58, supported by Cam “C-Mac” MacDonald (43) and Rob “Fairfather” Fairchild (42), before Perth broke our hearts in the last over with just one wicket in hand. Deon “Lando” Billington was best with the ball, taking 3/42.
