Weekend Wrap

A little-known fact about Meatloaf is that his 1977 hit was almost titled “Two out of Four Aint Bad”. He decided against this title as it would have given away the result from this weekend’s Senior fixtures vs. Joondalup.

1st Grade

1st Grade posted back-to-back Two Day victories with a comprehensive win over Northside rivals Joondalup.

On our brand new Kingsway pitches, Joondalup could only manage 201, with Matt “Anthrax” Spoors taking a hat-trick on his way to 4/6 and Caiden “Slug” Eaton taking 3/39.

In reply, our marquis players put on a clinic with Travis “Tuberculosis” Birt dominating with 113 and Stuart “Jeff” Thompson falling for 87. WDCC secured the victory with 8 wickets in hand.

2nd Grade

2nd Grade celebrated their first victory of the season in emphatic fashion, with Adam “Wesson and” Smith wreaking havoc at Illuka with 4/27.

Set just 177 for victory, Callum “CD” Douglas (51) and Riley “Christmas” Holly (34) got the boys off to a great start before Bailey “Zinger” Nylander set Illuka alight (not literally) with 77. Nylander and Michael “Max’s Bro” Kelsey (39) saw the Roos home.

3rd Grade

3rd Grade lost in a heart-breaker at Kingway 2, chasing 198 after Gagandeep “G-Train” Singh took 4/37.

In reply, the Roos were cruising thanks to a breezy 52 from Donnie “Post-Honeymoon Runs” Fryer and and determined 42 from James “Mont” Dicarlo. But with victory in sight, the Magees lost four wickets for just 15 runs to lose by 10.

4th Grade

4th Grade found themselves chasing a big total at Illuka 2, despite Hayden “Stumpy” Stumpers and Sharad Jessani taking three wickets a piece.

In reply, dozens of spectators were treated to John “The Batsman” Walter compiling a classy 52, supported by Tim “Marcus” Harris (40) Nick “Subway” Santich (33). Unfortunately the Al Gores fell short by just 120 runs.

17s

Our 17s posted 9/156 in the first hit-out on the new pitches at Kingsway 2. Despite several starts from the likes of Mitch Slattery (21), Aryan Varsani (22), Jack McDonald (31) and Sam Williams (33) the youths couldn’t kick on.

In reply, Joondalup batted well to pass the total with seven wickets in hand.

15s

Our 15s posted an imposing 223 at Belridge, with Jayden “Sting” Rae leading the way with 72. Rae was supported well by Thomas “The Tank Engine” Pullinger (55).

In reply, Joondalup were dismissed for 199 with Pullinger going bananas with 6/27.

14s

U14’s had a win chasing Subiaco Floreat’s 9/176. Mitchell “MJ” Lonnie took 3/21.

In a tight finish, the young Roos got across the line with one wicket in hand, with Cody “Billy-C” Billington (46) and Mitch “Smooth Criminal” Lonnie doing well with the bat.

13s

Our 13s posted 7/174 with Blake “The Snake” Holly top scoring with 65. In reply, Subiaco Floreat were routed for 94 with Oscar “The Grouch” Thompson taking 5/29, including a hat-trick!
