Wanneroo 0/62 (Reichelt 31*) def Subiaco-Floreat 61 (Beckett 3/0, Stillitano 3/10, Jones 2/16)

It was back to 40 over cricket as Subi-Floreat traveled to Kingsway to take on our B Grade ladies. After winning the toss and choosing to bat on a very warm day, the Roos got straight to work with the ball, and Subi were in trouble at 1/5.

In an impressive, sustained period of tight lines and immense pressure, the Roos kept up the heat as the visitors went from 2/13 to 7/18!! Bowlers and fielders to be congratulated on working so hard in the heat.

Subi rallied somewhat through the last part of their innings, eventually reaching 61 all out. Wickets were shared around between the bowlers, with Buckets taking 3/10 (and a super impressive caught and bowled) while Kristin continued her good season with 2/16.

A special mention to Josie who bowled an awesomely unplayable spell. In four and a half overs she collected three wickets without conceding a single run!

Tene and Shenae got us home in no time – we passed Subi’s score without loss in just the 7th over. Great to see the strength in this partnership shine with great timing in this match – between them, our openers collected nearly half of the required runs in boundaries.

Well done B Grade on a really strong showing!!

Joondalup 6/186 (Jones 3/38, Rawlins 2/46) def Wanneroo Districts 10/135 (Prance 34)

The Roos travelled this week to Iluka Sports Complex. The pitch was a road with Fremantle making 4/467 on the Saturday and Sam Whiteman finishing on 250 not out. We needed our boys to make the most of the flat deck.

Joondalup won the toss and elected to bat; Aiden Rawlins made an early breakthrough with a sharp catch at first slip by Robbie Kilgour. After the first wicket though, Joondalup’s batsmen built steady partnerships and not offering too many chances until the final overs where Blake Jones managed to get three quick wickets before reaching 6-186.

The total was certainly achievable on the flat deck and a good challenge for the boys to chase down.

Both openers were run out early, Brock Prance and Blake Jones started to build a good partnership and looked very comfortable in the middle before Blake got caught. Unfortunately, a middle order collapse followed and the Roos were on the back foot. Score wise the boys were tracking well but after losing their 8th wicket on 86 it was a tough task chasing 186. The tail enders managed to get the score to 135 before being out in the 48th over.

Unfortunately, the boys didn’t make the most of the great pitch to bat on. One more game to come against Mt Lawley this Sunday, hopefully the team can build a competitive score to finish well leading into next season.

Go Roos
