2nd Grade

Batting first at Kingsway in 49 degree heat, openers Callum “Douggo” Douglas (34) and Riley “Buddy” Holly (32) put on 59 for the first wicket, before Chad “THE CHAD!” Hitchcock put on a batting clinic. The Chad finished on 74 not out off just 64 balls, supported by Graeme “Gra-Gra” Atkinson who was run out for 31 after his calf exploded mid-pitch.  The Magoos set a competitive target of 241.

Despite a gritty 72 from Nick Mitchell, South Perth struggled against an extremely strong bowling line-up, led by Matt “Double-Z” Dzodzos (3/36), Deon “Billy D. Williams” Billington (3/20) and Donnie “Sprained Beard” Fryer (2/30). The Roos were victorious by 51 runs, dismissing South Perth for 190.

In a T20 fixture at Richardson Park, our 17s batted first and posted a respectable 120, with Tim “Marcus” Harris top scoring with 36.

Unfortunately for our young Roos, Tyler McMiles (62 off 40) and Tom Kingsley (45 off 39) went ballistic and South Perth reached the target with 9 wickets in hand and 4.2 overs remaining.

Sent in to bat, our 15s lost an early wicket before Nick “Multigrain” Whitbread (31 off 31) and Jack “Beanstalk” Maraldo (63 off 49) combined to lead their team to 6/130 off their 20 overs.

South Perth lost early wickets in reply, and just when a middle-order resurgence seemed on the cards, Keegan “KK” Klumper tore the heart out of the opponents with 3/25 off 4 overs. South Perth finished with 6/111, a deficit of 19. Maths!
