Weekend wraps for round 6 vs Bayswater-Morley and round 7 vs University
Round 6
1st Grade
Wanneroo 10/122 & 10/127 def by Bayswater-Morley 3d/163 & 1/87
This round offered the 1st XI another valuable opportunity to measure progress and continue developing their game. Most excitingly, it also featured the debut of 1st-grade newcomer George Addy—congratulations, Curious!
Day 1
The team was sent in to bat on a grassy Kingsway wicket, with Jacob and Mitchell opening against a strong Bayswater attack. The opposition bowlers applied significant pressure early, and despite the hard work of the openers to see off the new-ball spell, Mitch departed early, followed soon after by Fawc.
Aryan and Bonner then combined for a promising partnership, showing resilience and starting to build momentum. Unfortunately, another cluster of wickets fell, halting the innings. The lower order provided some resistance, with Jordan Slattery contributing a gritty 35, but the team was eventually bowled out for 122.
Bowling proved challenging, as Bayswater’s aggressive approach kept the pressure on. Jordy managed the first breakthrough, with Caiden grabbing another wicket the following over. The bowlers tightened up for a period, applying pressure, but a late flurry of runs from Bayswater sealed a first-innings loss by the end of Day 1.
Day 2
The team returned on Day 2 with optimism and determination, looking to take positives from the day and continue their development. Bayswater declared immediately, leaving Deon and Mitchell to open the batting with the aim of setting a lead and providing the bowlers something to defend.
The start was bright and encouraging, with both openers looking solid. After Deon departed, Aryan joined Mitchell in a positive partnership, displaying some excellent shot-making. However, wickets began to fall steadily, and the team was bowled out for 127, setting Bayswater a target of 87 for victory.
The bowling unit started with energy and intensity, and an early run-out injected some hope of pulling off an unlikely reverse outright. Despite some promising spells and a couple of opportunities, only the run-out resulted in a wicket, as Bayswater chased down the target comfortably.
It wasn’t our game this round, but there were plenty of positives to build on as we prepare for our upcoming match against University. Let’s keep working hard and moving forward!

Bayswater-Morley 10/273 def by Wanneroo 4/277
Wanneroo lost the toss and were sent in to bowl on what look a very flat hillcrest wicket. But with the third pill of the game, Donny took the off peg of the Bayswater opener to get the ball rolling.
Tom didn’t want Donny to have all the fun and decided that he wanted to be part of the action, taking the next 3 wickets in what was a very sharp spell of bowling to have Bayswater struggling at 4/22.
But in typical hillcrest fashion it decided to flatten out into a batting paradise with Bayswater piling on the runs through the middle session.
Blake Jones got the breakthrough, before Faz did Faz things, cleaning up the tail to get his first 5fa of the year. A very disciplined spell of bowling and very well deserved.
Wanneroo began the 2nd week with confidence. We knew that if we stuck to our plans, we could chase down the total and that’s what happened. Tyler and Blake started the game off strong, a 62-run opening stand before Tyler nicked off for 39. A tactical ploy to bring in Kelsey who, along with Blake, put on a 67-run partnership before Blake got dismissed for a very well made 70. Regular big partnerships and contributions from the top 6 got us to 4/201 at tea. Darcy contributed with a mature 37* but a fairy tale finish for Kelsey, who finished the game with a boundary to hit the winning runs and bring up his first 100* for the season

Wanneroo 10/240 def Bayswater-Morley 10/197
Day 1 – Batting: We won the toss and chose to bat first. Sam and Greg opened the batting, and both got starts, with Sam making 30 and Greg contributing 41. Tom followed up with a solid 34. However, the day was defined by Kingy, who played a fantastic innings of 83 and batted through the majority of the day, anchoring our innings. Jacob came in towards the end and added a quick-fire 17, helping us finish on a competitive total of 240. It’s a defendable score, but we’ll need to bowl well to secure the win.
Day 2 – Bowling: Jacob opened the bowling and got us off to a great start, claiming a couple of early wickets. Cody and Hayden then took over and bowled superbly. Cody finished with 2 wickets, and Hayden chipped in with 1. At one point, we could’ve wrapped up the innings early, but the opposition managed to settle and build a partnership. Our fielding, unfortunately, let us down at times, but we managed to regroup and stay focused.
In the end, we bowled them out for 197 with 9 overs to spare, securing a comfortable win.

Bayswater-Morley 9/236 def by Wanneroo 9/237
The 4’s outing with Bayswater-Morley could possibly go down as the greatest game of all time with a hero emerging in a time where all hope was lost.
Liam ‘fair dinkum’ Carroll started proceedings with losing the toss (shock), and Baysie deciding to have a bat on the flattest pitch in the southern hemisphere. It was a rough start for the 4’s, not getting any wickets before lunch and watching the shittest batsmen block HV’s. The first wicket came in the 32nd over, Brock ‘shadow’ Prance making a breakthrough. This inspired a collapse by the home team led by Keeley ‘wasted talent’ Farrant. Taking 3 of the worst wickets you’ll ever see, fully embracing the phase ‘shit gets wickets. The opener tonned up in the final overs to the delight of no one. No shock to anyone, he was out shortly after. Baysie ended the innings 9-236. A score the Roo’s will be tested by.
Week 2 rolls around and the vibes in the 4’s change rooms were high. Jayden ‘vengeance’ Rotham feeling dustier than your grandma’s attic, and Alex ‘CLUTCH’ Hardiman searching the ends of the earth to find oil for his car. The 4’s innings started with catastrophe, Xander ‘the sook’ Glamuzina departing in the first over, followed by Tyler ‘gambling addict’ Brown following him shortly after. Jayden ‘sex tape’ Rae somehow managing to chop on when leaving left us 3-9 and all hope was lost. An inspiring partnership from Jordan ‘hates beers’ Marinovich and Keeley ‘wasted talent’ Farrant gave us hope of pulling the game back. Unfortunately, good things never last and they both departed, leaving us all thinking about early beers. A short collapse later the man, the myth, the LEGEND Alex ‘CLUTCH’ Hardiman took to the stand and put on the best individual performance the cricketing world has ever seen. Needing 30 runs with 1 wicket left. Spidey put on a clinic, showing his class and winning the game off his own bat. The 4’s walked off Hillcrest heads high, undefeated, and horny for beers. This is a game that will be remembered as the Alex ‘CLUTCH’ Hardiman game.

University 10/233 def Wanneroo 10/98 & 10/73
Roos won the toss on a nice soft deck at James and Jordan Slattery was at his best taking 3 quick ones in his big opening spell, all the bowlers were on song all day having uni 8/99 then a big 9th wicket partnership got uni to 230. Roos had to bat for 8 overs and unfortunately were 3-7 at stumps. Nothing more to comment.
Roos are looking for a strong bounce back against Gosnells.

University 10/325 def Wanneroo 10/294
Day one. Toss won by Uni… any danger Donny. Uni sent us out in the field for a day in the absolute dirt on a nice batting wicket. The boys never really bowled poorly but the ground fielding was a worry leaking nearly 40 runs in misfields. Pick of the bowlers was captain Donny ending with 4. Contributions from Pesh, Darcy, Grumpy Tom and Faz taking 1 each. Uni ended on 325 at the end of play.
Day 2 boys were in high spirit ready to put Uni to the sword. We got off to a flyer with Bob striking at 140 for the first 5 overs getting us to 0/40 in no time. Uni fought back with the wicket of Yler and Bonnar in quick succession. This brought Blake and Dougo to the crease. The pair put in a massive effort running singles for fun Dougo got to 50. Blake then was run out after a mix up for 32. The frog man boshed 32 off 28 getting us back in front of the rate. We got to the final session needing to go at 4 an over. The constant loss of wickets caused us to fall 31 runs short. Shoutout to Darcy fighting right until the end getting out trying to get us over the line finishing on 55.

University 10/227 & 0/20 def Wanneroo 10/129
round 7 saw 3rd grade facing university away at UWA. captain Beuge McDonald set his side up for complete failure, losing the toss and forcing us to bowl on what could have been mistaken for Mitchell freeway (an absolute road). an embarrassing performance in the first session had Wanneroo 3s almost as flat as the deck we were bowling on as every bowler got tapped by a very average uni top order. fortunately, we decided to rock up after lunch and took 3 wickets for not many runs in a very boring second session. Uni’s middle and lower order were just as shit as their ‘tea’ losing their last 6 wickets for only 17 runs in the last session. Uni were all out for 227. Sharad bowled a very boring 27.3 overs taking 2/70. Cody ended with 3 and Hayden with 2.
this collapse from university had Gregory ‘fingers’ Maher and Kelli underwood trying to survive 8 overs before the end of day 1. they should’ve taken some advice from the ‘Bee Gees’ as they did a horrible job of ‘stayin alive’. fingers left one onto his front pad and up went the umpire’s finger. shortly after Sams stumps got tickled bringing the skipper to the crease alongside fingers 2.0. fingers copied fingers leaving one not onto his pad but onto his off peg. captain beuges and john Pujara Walter saw us to the end of the days play 3/18.
Day 2 started just as bad as day 1 did. a small partnership formed between the skip and walts until beuges tried pulling a half volley sending him back to the sheds. wickets fell continuously around big john as he scored a crucial yet very boring 37* in the 50 overs he was at the crease. Wanneroo 3s were all out for an embarrassing 129 as we fell 98 runs short in an all-round poor effort.
